Obituary of Shirley Cammile Louise Fraser

Fraser: Shirley  Cammile Louise (née Vercouteren) - 

It is with deep regret and sadness that the family of the late Shirley Fraser announces her passing at Riverview Gardens, a long-term facility in Chatham, ON.  Shirley passed on April 5th, 2024 at the age of 88.

The Family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the nursing staff of the 4th floor West at Riverview Gardens for their loving and compassionate care for mom.

She is survived by her children: Joanne (Roger) Schoonjans of Ridgetown and Laurie King of Chatham. She is also survived by her grandchildren Roger, Julie, Miranda (Mike) and Jason and 5 great-grandchildren Kortni, Owen, Dakota, Kaelyn and Grace, also by several cousins and nieces and nephews.

Shirley was the daughter of the late Frank and Georgina Vercouteren.  Predeceased by Sisters Mary Hendrickx, Erma McKeon, Madeleine Haest, June Dutry and Niece Connie Marchetti.

Shirley worked as a cook at Babcock’s Nursing Home and Beattie Haven Retirement Living in Wardsville, and at the Cadillac Tavern in Blenheim as cooking was her passion.

As per mom's wishes, cremation has taken place.  A Visitation in honour of Shirley will take place at St. Mary's Church in Blenheim, ON, on May 4th, 2024 from 10:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. with a Funeral Mass to commence at 11:00a.m. 

In lieu of Flowers, Donations made in the memory of Shirley to the CK Animal Rescue, Big Fix Grassroots Cat Rescue (as mom loved her pets!) or to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada would be appreciated.
