McGill: Charlene (née Gyssels)

A resident of Chatham, Charlene McGill passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on September 5, 2023 at the age of 74.

Born in Chatham, Charlene was the daughter of Hilaire and Ida Gyssels.

Charlene has joined her husband of 35 years, Ted McGill who passed away on October 8, 2022.

Survived by Daughter, McKenzie McGill of Chatham, and Two Sons, Jonathan Bellamy of Meaford, and Christopher Bellamy of Vancouver.

She was the proud grandmother of Colton McGill-Borges, Paige Bellamy, and Katelin Bellamy.

Charlene was an internationally published artist and recognized expert in colour theory and paper type. In recent years she was recognized as Chatham-Kent's artist of the year. She was incredibly humble about her achievements. Charlene was a teacher to many, holding water colour classes in home and at the Chatham Cultural Centre. Charlene was a dedicated hostess and would prepare house and home for family gatherings (big or small). She would often be found in the kitchen preparing a warm meal. In retirement Charlene and Ted enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada from coast to coast in their RV. Charlene was known to be the World's Best Chili maker.

As per Charlene's wishes, cremation has taken place. Donations made in memory of Charlene to the ALS Society of Windsor would be appreciated by the family.
