Hearts and prayers to Jack's family & friends. I did know him well but enough to know of his kindness and good heart. I saw firsthand how willing he was to help others when they needed it and that generosity did not go unnoticed by those around him. If I can feel the loss knowing him so little, I can only imagine what the people that knew him best are going through. He was truly good man.

My deepest sympathy to Shelley and family.
Jack was a true leader and inspiration for me. I learned so much from Jack (and Ray Payne) on how to be a leader, how to treat people, and how do so while being honest and ethical. The amazing thing was, Jack didn't even have to work at any of it. It was a purely instinctual process. He exuded a quiet confidence that was infectious.
His knowledge within the municipal field was unparalleled.
Once he was comfortable with you, he would even let the odd quip slip here and there. It was always great to share a belly laugh with him.
Some of the best times I had with him was when we would golf together and someone would come up to say hi to Jack (he knew EVERYONE) and then say hi "Matt" to me. Matt and I seem to be spitting images of one another. It happened so frequently that I would simply say hi, they would make some comment about "my Dad, Jack, or some golf related joke and his expense" and I would comment back and laugh. They often would make a comment, openly, about what a good guy "my Dad" was. I couldn't agree more. Jack and I would chuckle about it after our greeter had moved on.
He was admired by colleagues and peers, loved by family and friends, respected by employees and contractors and relied upon by Council/Commission and the public ... an incredibly enviable position in life.
