Obituary of Wilma Armstrong

Audrey Wilma Armstrong (nee Goodison) 1919 - 2015 Wilma Armstrong, born December 7, 1919, at Erie Beach, Ontario, daughter and only child of Ferna Aletha Bunning and Dexter Laurence Goodison, passed away in Okotoks, Alberta on Friday April 17, 2015. Wilma was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Rev. Clarence Alvin Armstrong in 2012. Loving mother of: Richard Armstrong (Lois Huff), Jim Armstrong (Ann McCracken) and Judy Hamende (Larry); Grandmother of seven: Krista Batten (Larry), Jeff Armstrong (Song-Ae Cho), Sheri Cantle (Ian), Robert Armstrong (Jenna Halverson), David Armstrong, Valerie Ekelund (Travis), and Tyler Hamende (Rebecca Macnab); and Great Grandmother of eight: James Batten, Laura Batten, Matthew Armstrong, Caitlin Armstrong, Luke Armstrong, and Rachel Armstrong, Emma Cantle and Naomi Cantle. For Wilma’s entire life she was an energetic, caring, and compassionate person for her family, friends and absolutely everyone she came into contact with. Her interests ran from professional school teacher, tax preparer and officer of the Baptist Women's Association, to seamstress, needlework, ceramics, puzzles, cribbage, travel and square dancing. Her mind was sharp and quick witted right up until her comfortable passing with her children at her side. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim, Ontario on Friday April 24 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. A service will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 pm on Saturday, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim. Donations may be made in memory of Wilma to: Blenheim Baptist Church; Sheep River Health Trust, Alberta; Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation; or a charity of your choice, through the funeral home.
