Obituary of William 'Abby' Charlton

Charlton: William "Abby" A resident of Chatham, Abby Charlton died peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Leamington, son of Kathleen (Kay) Charlton of Glenwood, and the late Claude Charlton (1973). Loving husband and best friend of Denise (Normandin) Charlton of Chatham. Dear father of Dennis & Laurie Charlton of Kitchener, and Cindy & Sam Zilio of Grande Cache, Alberta. Proud grandfather of Ewan Charlton and expected Baby Zilio. Son-in-law of Maurice Normandin of Chatham, and the late Simone Normandin. He will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Susan Normandin, nieces Melissa McNear and Teresa Shaw, as well as several aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Abby worked for 39 years for Union Gas. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Merlin, and enjoyed gardening, car races, camping, and playing cards, while spending time with friends and family. Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 3:00-5:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the Funeral Home on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Haupt of Merlin United Church officiating. Interment to follow at Shanks Cemetery. Memorial Donations to the Foundation of CKHA for Oncology, or to a charity of your choice are appreciated.
