Obituary of George Bruette

BRUETTE, George A resident of Prairie Siding, George Bruette, passed away peacefully at the Riverview Gardens Nursing Home on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of the late Doris (Bebbington) Bruette (2006). Loving father to George Bruette Jr. (Sadie), Maryanne Bruette, Kathleen Goldhawk (Michael), Ed Bruette (Diane), Pat Bruette (Patricia). Grandfather to Bernadette, Barbara Bruette, Kathi Collins (Ryan), Kristine, Jaclyn Goldhawk, Kristen, Megan Bruette, Michael, Renee Bruette. Great-Grandfather to the late Mitchell (2009), MacKenzie, Kaylee, Hayden, Nolan, Audrey, Braden, Jordyn, Kruz. Brother of the late Anita Bessette and her husband Toby. Uncle to Michael Bessette. George was a teacher for 41 years at various schools across Kent County, he was a member of St Peter’s Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #11891 3rd Degree, and enjoyed volunteering his time at Riverview Gardens Nursing Home. George had a love for sports, he coached football at McGregor High School for 17 years, played fastball for numerous Kent County Leagues, he was President of the Kent County Fastball League, Convenor for the Ontario Amateur Softball Association, and a member of the Ontario Harness Horse Association. Family to receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday from 3:00-5:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Knights of Columbus and Parish Prayers will begin at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 5425 Tecumseh Line R.R. # 2 Tilbury on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow with Private Family Interment. Donations in memory of George Bruette to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation, or the Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
