Obituary of Shirley Sargent

A resident of Chatham, Shirley Sargent died at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Sunday, March 12, 2006 at the age of 89. Born in Chatham, daughter of the late Clifford and Louise (Cross) Tomlinson. Beloved wife of Fred Sargent for 67 years. Loving mother of Nancy and Harry Kuipers of Blenheim and Barbara Sargent of Chatham. Grandmother of Ellen and Glen Desrosiers, Laurie and Butch Stothart, Doug and Angela Kuipers, Neil Kuipers, Gail and Jim Baxter, Paul and Kim Kuipers, Patty and Bob Russelo, Mike Kuipers and Barbara and Trevor Brady. Great-grandmother of 19 and great-great-grandmother of 13. Sister-in-law of William Longley of Blenheim. Predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Robert Lee. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Shirley was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Dr. Margaret Strang Auxilliary. She was also a member of the former Lt. Dick Crawford Chapter of the I.O.D.E. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 from the Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Maroney and Rev. Evelyn Carpenter officiating. Interment Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. Donations, made by cheque, to Parkinson Society or the Building Fund of First Presbyterian Church appreciated.
