Larry Callow

Obituary of Larry Callow

It is with great sadness and sudden surprise that we find our beloved husband, father and friend suddenly succumb to complications due to cancer. Larry was a High School teacher for 32 years who was actively involved in the community. You would see him at the hockey/figure skating rink, at the baseball diamond, and always on the golf course. He loved his golf and had 4 holes in 1 - there must have been witness I’m guessing. Most of all, Larry loved his family, his grandchildren and especially his beloved wife Laurie (Van Biesbrouck) of 46 years - how amazing! Although he loved his Canadian sports teams - Go Jays!, through his love for his children he persuaded a Detroit secret shame - Go Wings! His children Tanya (Bernie), Kristen (Rob), and Clayton (Niki) can claim that he never missed an opportunity to watch us grow into our sports and life - we thank you for that. Life lessons never end, even in death. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Bailey, Claire and Zoe Zilliges, Katie and Robbie Obeid, and Coleton and Carson Callow. His brother Randy (Julie) and sisters Marion, Debbie (Bryce), Peggy, Amy (Brad) & Sandy (Scott), brother-in-laws Barry ( Sandy) and Lee (Jill) and sister-in-laws Janette (Michael) and Merrie (Mike), as well as his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Russel and Mildred (Henderson) sister-in-laws Julie (Frank), Susan (Mike) and Daphne (Bosco). As per Larry’s wishes, cremation has taken place, with burial of his ashes at a later date. A ‘Celebration of his Life’ will be held at Willow Ridge Golf & Country Club, 439 Chatham Street South, Blenheim on Sunday, August 28th from 1-4pm. He would love to see everyone!
