Obituary of Jacob 'Joe' Evers

EVERS: Jacob "Joe" - A resident of Chatham, Joe Evers passed away suddenly with his family at his side on Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus at the age of 80. Born in Hengelo, Holland, son of the late John & Arendina (Visscher) Evers. Joe emigrated to Canada with his family in 1953. Beloved husband of 57 years to Josie (deKoeijer) Evers. Loving father of Karen (Paul) McEachran, Blenheim; Karl (Mary) Evers, Lighthouse Cove; Tim (Barb) Evers, Chatham and Laurie (Paul) Montgomery, Oungah. Proud grandfather of Mitchell (Brittanie), Colin; Joe (Lisa), Cody (Jenna); Brendan, Jordan; Tyler (Amanda) and John. Great-grandfather of Finley, Brooklyn and Tucker. Step-Great grandfather of Alex, Daniel, Maddie and Morgan. Dear brother of Bill (Diane) Evers, Chatham; Herman Koetsier and the late Albert Evers (1984). Brother-in-law to Ann. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Joe spent an enjoyable sixteen years at Sanlan RV Resort in Lakeland, Florida. He was an avid shuffle board player and past Polk Senior Game Champion. He also enjoyed his time at the Thames Valley Shuffle Board Club in Chatham. Friends will be received at St. Paul’s Congregational Church, 450 Park Avenue West, Chatham on Tuesday February 24, 2015 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Peter Maddocks and Rev. Dr. Margaret Moriyama officiating. Cremation to follow with a private family interment at a later date. Donations in memory of Joe to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Chatham-Kent Hospice would be appreciated.
