Obituary of Jean Atkinson

ATKINSON: Jean Our precious and treasured mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance at the age of 93. A long-time resident of R.R.#6 Thamesville. Born in Howard Township, Jean was the daughter of the late Samuel and Hazel (Welch) Bowden. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Atkinson (1970). Cherished Mother, Gram and Grams of Sandra and the Late Carl Ferren their children, the late Bradley Ferren; Scott Ferren and Melissa Hope and Scott’s children Kaylynn and Danielle; Derek and Sarah Ferren, Sawyer and Ella; Mark Ferren, Mason; Dennis and Cheryl Atkinson and their children Jeff Atkinson and Alana Pollard; Jennifer and Greg Devries, Megan and Eric; Jared and Christa Atkinson, Jaymin; Catherine Dinga and Rick Southon and Catherine’s children Nicole and Kevin Vanderlee, Allie and Taylor and Ashley Dinga and Alex Raptis. Dear sister-in-law of Mary Bunning. Loving sister of the late Eileen and Manson Pickard, Margaret (Mig) and Jack Robertson, Vonda (Bonnie) and Morley Hillman. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday, February 9, 2015 from 7-9pm and Tuesday, February 10, 2015 from 2-4:30 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 11am with the Rev. Heather Scott and Marsha Roberts of St. John’s Botany United Church, officiating. Private Family interment at Botany Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to St. John’s Botany United Church, Salvation Army Food Bank, Chatham-Kent Hospice or the Charity of your Choice would be appreciated by the family.
