Obituary of H. Glen 'Blackie' Blackburn

BLACKBURN: H. Glen A resident of Terrace Beach, and formerly of Chatham, Glen “Blackie” Blackburn, passed away on Sunday February 1, 2015 at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. He was born in Chatham, 78 years ago on August 1, 1936, son of the late Harry & Madeline (Young) Blackburn. Beloved husband of Dorothy “Dot” Blackburn. Loving father of Tracey & Joe Zimmer of Chatham, and Doree Blackburn of London. Proud grandpa of Amanda and Ashley Zimmer. Dear brother of Sherry & Richard Greene of R.R. # 3 Blenheim, Joan & Harry Kranenburg of Trenton, Bill Blackburn (late Betty) of Chatham, Dale & Carolyn Blackburn of Exeter, Don & Charlotte Blackburn of Cambridge, Larry & Helen Blackburn of Chatham, and the late Randy Blackburn. Brother-in-law of Sharron Blackburn of Chatham, Victor Day of Simcoe, and Denise & John Edwards of Glen Williams, Ontario. Lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Glen retired as a Captain with the Chatham Fire Department in 1993. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the Funeral Home on Friday February 6, 2015 at 1:30 p.m., with Michelle O’Rourke officiating. Cremation to follow, with inurnment at Maple Leaf Mausoleum at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the London Health Sciences Foundation for the Pacemaker Clinic, London Regional Cancer Program, or Chatham-Kent Hospice.
