Obituary of Kenneth Sjaarda

Sjaarda, Kenneth Cornelius, a resident of Chatham, died at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Wednesday December 10, 2014 at the age of 83. Born in Burum, Friesland son of the late Tjeerd and Sijke (Poortinga) Sjaarda. Beloved husband of the late Lucillle (Wielhouwer) Sjaarda(2002). Dear father of Sharon (Bill) Folkerts; Charles (Elizabeth) Sjaarda; James (Jen) Sjaarda; Carol (Ed) Regts. Dear Grandfather of Renee (Neal) Philipow, Ian (Sharlene) Folkerts, Karen (Don) Desjardins, Amanda (Tim) Sreedharan, Joel Sjaarda, Matthew (Jenny) Sjaarda, Oliver Sjaarda, Julia Sjaarda, Bailey Regts, Bradley Regts, and Kenzie Regts. Great Grandfather of Zachary Folkerts, Hailey Folkerts, Cameron Desjardins, Kendall Desjardins and Benjamin Folkerts. Beloved brother of Jeanne (Brian) Baker, Margi (the late Allan) Kielstra, George (the late Minnie and Alice) Sjaarda, Betty (and the late Frank) Thompson, Harry and Marilyn Sjaarda, and Janet and Gerrit Sheeres. Also survived by a dear friend, Edith Brinkman, and numerous nieces and nephews. Kenneth was a retired employee of CIBC, and an active volunteer in the Toronto Christian School communities, before retiring to Chatham. Friends will be received at the Grace Christian Reformed Church, 255 Tweedsmuir Avenue West, Chatham, on Friday, December 12, 2014, from 7 to 9 pm., and Saturday from 12 till 1pm. Funeral service to follow at 1pm, with Rev. William Koopmans officiating. Internment Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham, Ontario.
