Obituary of Ken 'Red' Osborne

OSBORNE: Ken Ken (Red) Osborne passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, December 5, 2014, at Village On The Ridge in his 82nd year. Ken was born on November 4th, 1932, to Marjorie (Osborne) Gawne. Beloved husband of Betty (Gotelaer) of 59 years and survived by his daughters Cathy Dilliott (Kevin), Patty Smith (Dale), his son Ken (Kathleen); grandchildren Jennifer Elliott (Ryan), Kimberly Sheeler (Tyson), Cal Osborne (fiancée Tania), Caitlin Osborne (partner Nick ), and great grandson Taylen Sheeler. Red was a very honest and hard working individual. As a teenager he worked and sailed on the Great Lake Freighters. His love of these mighty ships never faltered, nor did the wonderful stories he so often shared of the days he spent sailing the Great Lakes. From sailing, to driving a truck, a desire to be free and on the move lasted long enough to get the job done. Home was where he wanted to be. A devoted father, husband, grandfather, and Chicago Black Hawk fan, Red lived a rich life surrounded by the love of his family. Pastor Al McIntyre will officiate at a private family service, and interment of his urn will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown, at a later date. Any donations made in memory of Red to the Parkinson’s Society would be appreciated, and may be arranged by contacting the McKinlay Funeral Home, Ridgetown. Online condolences can be left at www.mckinlayfuneralhome.com
