Please accept my most sincere condolences on John's passing. He was a legend and an inspiration to many, including myself. As a young man starting off in the auto body business, I first met John when he pinstriped and flamed a gas tank and fenders for a customer's Harley. He had me come out after-hours since he knew I had put myself in a time crunch and he was more than willing to help. We took a lot longer than it should have but the stories and all we talked about was priceless. The automotive and classic car industry has really lost an amazing and valued Godfather of our institution.
John was an incredible artist and a true talent but above all he was a true gentleman. Anyone who met him could undoubtedly call him a friend. Rest in peace.

John will be greatly missed by all street rodders, especially his fellow inductees in the Canadian Street Rodding Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame has made a donation to CK Animal Rescue in John's memory.

The name John Van Dube has always been synonymous with hot rods. My childhood was spent going to car shows with my folks, Jim & Barb Prowse, so we'd see John quite often. John was the sweetest guy and his painting skills were unreal. Reaching middle age myself, I've come to cherish those days of hot rods, car shows and real community. I find great comfort in the thought that John and my dad are once again hanging out, talking about hot rods.

John was very well known in the hot rod/ custom cars community for his artistry in pin striping or flames applied , usually drawn fee hand, to many cars.. John and Doris were also founding members of the Kent County Street Rods having many meetings with us "new members" at their home near Merlin.
