Obituary of John Vercouteren

Vercouteren: Johannes 'John' Martinus -

A resident of Blenheim, Johannes 'John' Vercouteren peacefully passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on December 16, 2020 at the age of 82. 

Born in Haarlem Holland, John was the son of the late Alfred and Petronella (nee Haak) Vercouteren. 

Beloved husband to Adelaide (nee Verhart) Vercouteren.

Loving father to Mark (Cindy) Vercouteren of Chatham, Cindy (Michael) Jones of Ottawa, Vicky Vercouteren of Blenheim, and Wendy Vercouteren of Chatham.

Grandfather to Malcolm and Montana Jones.

Brother to Nellie (late Terry) Johnson of Rodney.

Brother in law to Bill (late Mary-Lou) Verhart of Blenheim, Pete (Doreen) Verhart of Blenheim, late Anne Vanwissen, Nellie (late Clay) Reedhead of Thunder Bay, Henny (Leonard) Casier of Chatham, Jane Verhart of Blenheim, and Leo (Pat) Verhart of Blenheim.

He will be especially missed by Zoe and Curtis. Also sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

John will be remembered for running J & A Market and Greenhouses with his wife Adelaide for 40 years.  He took great pride in the plants that he grew from cuttings and seeds.

Friends and family will be received at the Funeral Home, 141 Park St. in Blenheim on Friday, December 18th 2020 from 2pm to 4pm. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church in Blenheim on Saturday December 19 at 11am with an interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

The Bereavement Authority of Ontario has mandated that all in attendance must wear a mask.
