I will always remember Mrs. Houston as the pioneer of the Junior Girls golf at the Blenheim Golf Course. She was always there encouraging us to learn and become better golfers. She encouraged us to go into tournaments, and to this day it is her drive that helped me to become the golfer I am, but also to be confident in what I put my mind to do. My sincere condolences to the family.
I have fond memories of euchre games with Charlie and Helen on Jackson St. and making candles with Helen at Christmas many years ago. She was so creative. I enjoyed our visits over coffee and the oaccasional Wendy's supper when I was able to visit over the years. Her favourite topic was always the happenings and events of her family. Her pride and joy in the telling was evident. And yes, as one of the girls stated during the service, she did not shy away from expressing her opinion...on anything.
Helen had a good long life, you have all been blessed by that and I have been blessed by her friendship.
Her struggles and journey in this life are over. Rest in peace dear Helen.

Rest In Peace Grandma. One of the many great memories I have of you is how you made scrambled eggs for me every morning that I slept over (after letting me sleep in until whenever I felt like getting up). You always had your ketchup in a little bottle that was shaped like a bear, and Papa Charlie always asked "you want some eggs with that ketchup?". You will be missed and remembered! I have great memories of visiting Helen, Charlie and the boys. Loved a very sparkly bracelet of Helen's and she let me wear it. I remember her kindness and laughter. I have a booklet of family reunions and Helen came to our home on the lake in Peterborough.

I am so very sorry to hear of Aunt Helen’s passing. I have so many wonderful memories of Christmas’ at the house in Blenheim when I was a child and more recently when she attended the Shaw Christmas’ in Chatham. She was always so interested to hear about what was happening in our lives. She will be missed by so many. Grateful for my memories.
