Mary McEachran

Obituary of Mary McEachran

Mary McEachran, devoted family matriarch, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2019. Mary and family celebrated her 90th birthday in September in royal fashion. Mary leaves behind a legacy of compassion and a deep sense of loyalty to her family. Gifted with a very sharp mind, she excelled as a career nurse graduating in 1952 from the Public General Hospital School of nursing and University of Western Ontario which led to a position of Nursing Coordinator at PGH and St. Clair College School of Nursing in Chatham. Mary’s passions over the years included researching family history, attending reunions, reading, travelling, following curling and hockey games and no crossword puzzle was left undone.

Survived by her brother Jim of North Bay, sister Ruth (Lloyd) LeGrow of Niagara-On-The-Lake, Jean (Don) Stewart of Kitchener, Katie (Don) Sifton of Woodstock as well as devoted nephew J.C. Goodreau who kept Aunt Mary well cared for and stocked with her favourite Werthers.

Predeceased by her parents Jim (T.J.) and Irene (Clark) McEachran, sister Margaret (Charles) Goodreau, sister-in-law Veronica McEachran, and nephew Regan Stewart. Aunt Mary will be missed and lovingly remembered for her devotion to her many nieces and nephews of whom she was very supportive and proud.

Mary’s family gives special thanks to Dr. Simmons and the staff at The Village on the Ridge, Ridgetown, her home for the last twelve years, for their exceptional care and attention and the many friends for calling and visiting. Cremation has taken place and there will be an interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 12:30pm followed by an Eastern Star service at 2:00pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park St., Blenheim, ON. A celebration of her life will follow from 2:00pm-4:00pm.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Chatham Masonic District Bruce B. Foster Charitable Foundation, the Erie Street United Church, Ridgetown or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

The family thanks and has entrusted arrangements to McKinlay Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.mckinlayfuneralhome.com
