A resident of Blenheim, William Shillington passed away at the Blenheim Community Village on September 18, 2019 at the age of 82.
Born in Chatham Ontario, Bill was the son of the late Harold and Rowena Shillington (McColl).
Beloved husband of 57 years to the late Margaret Shillington (nee Krause) (Sept 15, 2018).
Loving father of Kristy Shillington, Jacki (Clive) Blunn, and Jane (Rob) Barnes.
Proud grandfather of Brittney (Derek) Brown, Matthew Blunn, Carley Blunn, Shawna Blunn (Mario Naclerio) and Dylan Barnes.
Dear brother to Jack (Elaine) Shillington, and the late Don Shillington.
Brother in law to Helen Martin, Sharon Krause, Mary Ellen (Wayne) Namtu, Jack (Pam) Krause and predeceased by Jerry Martin and Don Krause.
Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
Bill was a dedicated employee for over 30 years at William M. Mercer Limited where he wore many hats and retired as the president of the company in 1998. He was an active member of the London Curling Club and continued membership with the Blenheim Golden Acres Curling Club. He was also a member of the Blenheim Kinsmen, Blenheim Kiwanis Clubs, and the Blenheim Legion.
Bill and Marg raised their three daughters in Toronto, Georgetown, London, and finally Rondeau.
For 14 years Bill enjoyed working at the Blenheim Community Golf Club in the pro shop. He loved getting out to golf and rarely missed a cup of coffee with the "circle of wisdom" table. Bill also looked forward to Wednesday evenings spent with the "Beer Boys". Bill and Marg spent 15 winters in Naples Florida where they met many life long friends.
A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at Willow Ridge Golf and Country Club, 439 Chatham St. S. in Blenheim on Saturday October 5th from 1:00 - 4:00pm. Memories will be shared at 2:00pm.
Cremation has taken place with a private family interment to be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Blenheim at a later date.
Donations made in memory of Bill to VON Chatham Kent, Chatham Kent Hospice Foundation, or Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated.
