Obituary of Jonathan Goodbrand

GOODBRAND: Jonathan -

A recent resident of St. Thomas, formerly of Blenheim, Jonathan Goodbrand passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with brain cancer on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the age of 32.

Born in Chatham, Jonathan was the son of Cheryl Brooke (Mickey) and Howard Goodbrand.

Beloved husband and best friend to Ashley (nee Vidler).

Dear brother of Ryan Brooke (Kayley Dorssers).

Much loved son-in-law to Tom and Sandra Vidler. Brother-in-law to Bradley Vidler (Lindsey Mackay). Cherished grandson to Elda Richmond (late Alexander), Adrianne Brooke (Leo Benoit) and the late Selina and Lloyd Goodbrand.

Survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and extended family.

Jonathan had a strong connection to his hometown and took great pride in everything he did. He enjoyed working as a welder/fabricator at the family business: Brooke Design and Fabrication. Jonathan also worked for the City of Toronto for many years, tending to the parks and sports fields.

He played and coached football for the Blenheim Bobcats, the Scarborough Thunder and the London Junior Mustangs and was a Green Bay Packers fan through and through.

He had a passionate love for the game, which was evident in how he shared his gifts with many young athletes in Blenheim, Toronto and London.

Jonathan had a zest for life and enjoyed living every moment to the fullest. He was always ready to rock with 'bull horns out'.

He had a great love and dedication for his family and friends. His absence leaves a great void in the lives he touched.

Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Monday from 7:00 - 9:00 pm and on Tuesday from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Glad Tidings Community Church, 403 Chatham Street South, Blenheim at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 with Deacon Chris Masterson and Rev. Bruce Cook officiating. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim.
