Obituary of Henry de Brouwer

A resident of Blenheim, Henry de Brouwer passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, August 8, 2016 at the Chatham-Kent Hospice. Born 85 years ago in Nederwetten, The Netherlands on May 2, 1931. Henry was the son of the late Lambert and Elizabeth (Van Eerd) de Brouwer. Henry immigrated to Chatham-Kent with his family in 1953. He was married in Delaware on April 4, 1959 to his beloved wife Betty (nee Roks). Cherished and loving father to Mike & Betty de Brouwer, Jim & Stacie de Brouwer, Josette de Brouwer & Frank Thompson, and John & Shelley de Brouwer. He will be forever missed by his grandchildren Christine & Kyle Schives and their son Henry, Robyn & Mitch Pool, Michael & Rianne de Brouwer and their daughter Annaliese, Andrea de Brouwer, Ashly & Jesse Buis and their son James, Chelsea & Jeff Mailing and their son Harlen, Sarah de Brouwer & Derek English, Joseph de Brouwer, Johanna Thompson, Wesley Thompson, Catherine Thompson, George Thompson, Lauren de Brouwer & Jarrod Oliphant. Henry was a brother to Ann Vandenbosch of London and her husband the late Martin (2016), Anne & Pete de Brouwer of Blenheim, Helen & Pete Kaal of Vancouver, BC, Chris de Brouwer of Blenheim and his wife the late Joan (2010), the late Martin (1993) and his wife Mona de Brouwer of Blenheim, Bert & Marie Theresa de Brouwer of Blenheim, Mia & Reinhard Schmiedt of London, Josie de Brouwer of Mexico, Ann Marie & Bernie de Brouwer of Blenheim. Brother-in-law to John & Leny Roks of Delaware, the late Peter & Rita Roks of Stratford, Nelly Vanos of Delaware and her husband the late Peter (2016), Bert VanHerk of Mitchell and his wife the late Jenny, Frank Roks of Delaware, Marian Roks & Jo Marchant of London, and the late Joanne Nuyten-Roks. Predeceased by an infant brother Christian Wilhelmus (1936), and great nephew Weston de Brouwer (2004). Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Vigil Prayers will take place at 3:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 95 Marlborough Street North, Blenheim on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. A Private Family Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Henry built a farm business that he now shares with his family. He took daily trips to the farm to inspect the crops and enjoy coffee with family, friends, and employees. In 1989 Henry was named the Agriculturist of the year, he was an avid horseman attending shows throughout Canada and the United States. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice.
