Obituary of Molly Vidler

VIDLER: Molly (nee McCoy) - A much loved resident of Erieau, Molly passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the age of 86. Born in Belfast, Ireland, Molly was the daughter of the late William and Clara (Hyndman) McCoy. She married O.J. Vidler in Belfast; on May 16, 1948, Molly emigrated to Canada, arriving in Montreal and taking a train to Erieau. O.J. purchased a fish tug, and Molly helped him process the fish. From there, they built a grocery store (with some help from the kids). They eventually moved the location of the grocery store in 1966 and added a coffee shop. In the mid 70's it was converted into the restaurant now known as "Molly and O.J.'s". Molly was affectionately known as the "Queen of Erieau", especially by her family. She was the much adored mother of Jim Vidler (Judy), Dana Vidler (Carol), Debbie Vidler and Tom Vidler (Sandra) all of Erieau. Predeceased by her daughter-in-law Patricia. Former mother-in-law to Glenda. Proud "Grandma Molly" to Michael Vidler (Christine), Melissa Schiedel (Paul), Brandon Campbell (Madison), Justin Campbell (Kathleen), Jordan Campbell (Cora); Mark Vidler (Stephanie), Matthew Vidler (Laura), Benjamin Vidler, Gregory Vidler, Jonathan Vidler; Ashley Goodbrand (Jon) and Bradley Vidler (Lindsay). "Great-Grandma Molly" to Eric Vidler (Chelsea) , Sarah Vidler, Julie-Ann Campbell; Tyler Schiedel, Jillian Schiedel; Dylan Vidler; Lucas Vidler and Olivia Vidler. Dear sister to Maureen of Belfast, Ireland and Vera of Durington, England. Predeceased by her sisters Gladys, Clara, Betty and Margaret and by her twin sister Joan. Sister-in-law to Mary Remington (late Gordon) of Chatham and Jeannette Vidler (late George) of Erieau. Predeceased by her brothers-in-law John Vidler (Ruth) and Hartley Vidler (Mary-Lou). Also predeceased by O.J.'s parents Charlie and Mollie (Patterson) Vidler. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Molly was devoted to O.J., her family and Molly and O.J.'s Restaurant. She was the "Admiral" to O.J. (The "Captain"). She had an affect on everyone she met with a smile and giggle that was contagious. She was known to light up a room with her many stories.
