SIMPSON: Acey “Ace” Carlyle Simpson, a resident of Ridgetown and formerly of R.R.#1 Ridgetown died at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham on Monday, February 27, 2006 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of 62 years of Anne F. (Davidson) Simpson. Dearly loved father of Judy and Florent VanOverloop of R.R.#2 Aylmer, and Carol Craig of London. Loving grandfather of Brent Meharg, Darren Meharg, Kyle Craig, and Paul Craig. Brother-in-law of Betty Davidson of Tilbury and Emiel Ternoey of Tilbury. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Clarence (1948) and Margaret (Dawson) Simpson (1970), sister Doris Bishop (1949), and brothers Clare (1996) and Harry (2005). “Ace” was born on Pelee Island and was a retired farmer of Howard Township. He was a member of Erie St. United Church in Ridgetown. He was a longtime member and Past-President of Ridgetown Kiwanis Club. He assisted with the Santa Claus Parade for more than 55 years. He was also Past-President of Howard Mutual Insurance Company and a former Reeve of Howard Township. Family will receive relatives and friends at Erie St. United Church, 40 Erie St. S., Ridgetown on Saturday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at Erie St. United Church on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. W. Vanderveeken officiating. Cremation with interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown. Donations by cheque to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or Erie St. United Church appreciated.
