Obituary of Dorothy Meraw

MERAW: Dorothy - A resident of Cedar Springs, and formerly of Great Britain, Dorothy Meraw peacefully entered into rest with her family at her side on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the age of 94. Born in Bridekirk, Great Britain, and raised in Annan, Scotland, Dorothy met her husband Joseph fatefully during the Second World War. Joseph served as a fighter pilot with the R.C.A.F. and Dorothy served with the heavy anti-aircraft division of the W.A.T.S. Dorothy and Joseph were married and returned to Canada after the war. Joseph predeceased Dorothy in 1987. Loving and devoted mother of Stephen Meraw (Supanat) of Zepher Hills, FL, Susan Klinck (Bob) of McGregor, Michael Meraw (Dorothy) of Windsor and Patrick Meraw (Julia) of Cedar Springs. Proud grandmother of Kevin Klinck, Stephen Meraw Jr. (Tracy), Constance Martinez (Joseph), Christine McDonough (Chris), Sean Meraw, Laura VanderLinde (Ryan) and Miles Meraw. Great-grandmother of Alexandra Martinez, Ivy Meraw, Tyson Meraw, Domenic Martinez, Annette Meraw, Andrew Martinez, Cody McDonough, Henry Meraw, Curtis McDonough and Lillian VanderLinde. She will be missed by her loving dog Danny Boy. Dorothy retired as a Residential Counselor from the Southwestern Regional Centre. She was known as ‘Grandma’ by everyone in the village of Cedar Springs. Dorothy was known as a dog lover, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, doing crosswords and playing cards with friends. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held Sunday at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 95 Marlborough Street North at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 with Fr. Arockiadoss “Doss” Savurimuthu celebrant. Interment to follow at Craford Cemetery. Donations made in memory of Dorothy to Covenant House would be appreciated.
