Obituary of Alexander Leslie Mervin

MERVIN: Alexander Leslie - Peacefully and surrounded by his loving family, Alex Mervin of Ridgetown passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in his 84th year. Beloved son of the late Otis and Ellen (Clayton) Mervin. Loving husband of Lillian (Beaubien) Mervin for 63 years. Cherished father of Mike and Joanne Mervin and Patty and Phil Perry of Ridgetown. Proud grandfather of Steven and Vanessa Mervin of Vegreville Alberta and Daniel and Sara Mervin of Ridgetown. Alex delighted in seeing his great-grandson Tommy, and he very much looked forward to his daily visit from his four-legged grand-dog, Molly. Brother of Marie Inchley of Sarnia, and the late Margery Trudeau, Clayt Mervin and Bob Mervin. Brother-in-law of Mary Johnston and Blanche Beaubien. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Raised on the family farm in Rushton’s Corners, Alex worked as a linesman for Ontario Hydro for 35 years and still proudly recalled building and maintaining hydro lines across southwestern Ontario. In his retirement, he developed a passion for wood carving particularly carving ducks. He was a long standing member of the Howard Lodge No. 391 A.F. & A.M. and the IOOF. In keeping with Alex’s wishes, cremation has taken place, with a private graveside service at Evergeen Cemetery, Blenheim.
